Yutong’s Eco-Friendly Electric Bus Technology Unveiled

Yutong Bus&Coach, the leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has recently unveiled its latest advancements in eco-friendly electric bus technology, setting new industry benchmarks on the electric bus system. The company’s engineers have developed a new generation of high-safety super-energy batteries that boast exceptional water and fire resistance, as well as a robust structure and strong energy density.

Pioneering Fireproof and Waterproof Capabilities

Yutong’s cutting-edge battery technology features an industry-first extreme waterproof system that can withstand 72 hours of immersion in water, ensuring reliable performance even in the harshest conditions. The sandwich fireproof insulation structure and the pioneering nitrogen protection system further isolate oxygen and eliminate the possibility of internal fires, providing double isolation and fire prevention at temperatures up to 1300°C for 2 hours.

Maximizing Energy Density and Efficiency

By adopting the latest high-specific energy cells and employing a highly integrated structural design, Yutong’s battery packs have achieved a remarkable 38% increase in volumetric energy density, allowing for greater space utilization within the vehicle. This innovation addresses the common challenge of heavy trucks and effectively meets the demands of low-floor large battery capacity buses, improving overall efficiency and driving range.

Ensuring Durability and Battery Health

Yutong has reinforced the structural integrity of its battery packs and modules, ensuring they can withstand vibrations and impacts that are more than 5 times the strength of the new national vibration standard. Additionally, the advanced battery management system precisely monitors the state of charge (SOC), state of health (SOH), and state of power (SOP), effectively managing the battery’s life cycle and extending its lifespan up to 1.5 million kilometers.

Powertrain Efficiency and Integration

Yutong’s new generation of power domain controllers, featuring hardware circuit sharing, software function integration, and high-sealing protection, deeply integrates the functions of motors, steering, air compressors, power distribution, and more. The integration of the latest SiC power devices further enhances efficiency, with an industry-leading system efficiency of up to 99.5% and a 50% reduction in energy consumption.

Conclusion

Yutong’s new generation of integrated e-axle employs a parallel-shaft two-stage transmission, replacing the traditional three-stage design. This innovative approach achieves a weight reduction of more than 49% and a 30% improvement in chassis layout space, while also boosting overall system efficiency to over 93% and braking energy recovery to 77%.
